Library Network

Running since 1971, the Octávio Barbosa Library is the central library of CPRMs Institutional Informations area. It was named as a tribute to one of the founding fathers of Brazilian geology.

The library, located in Rio de Janeiro, holds a specialized collection in Geosciences, which includes thesis, books, national and international journal titles, technical reports and a wide variety of photographic and cartographic documentation focusing on geological aspects, all of which is available to the community.

Likewise, there are 12 other libraries located at the addresses below that are also part of the library network. The main purpose of the network is to give integrated access to the collections in the CPRM's libraries with a view to centralizing searches and optimizing the capacity to recover the significant collection of specialized technical documents in Geosciences.
